How many colours are there?

How many colours can you see in this image? (Answer in the last)

Well the main question is, How many colours are there in total?

Some say there are 3 colours (red, green and blue). Some say it would be in 100s to 1000s. But, Scientists have determined that in the lab we can see about 1,000 levels of dark-light and about 100 levels each of red-green and yellow-blue. So that's about 10 million colors right there.

Still, the exact number remains unknown. But it is believed that the exact number would at least be greater than 10 million.

So, How many colours can a human eye see?

The human eye can see around 7-8 millions of colors. But believe it or not, some colors exist in our world that the human eye can’t see. So, a healthy human eye can not see 2-3 million colours that actually exists in our world.

Humans don’t typically develop full color vision until they are about half a year or so old. The retina in the back of your eye has millions of tiny parts called cones. There are three kinds of cones typically found in the human eye: red, blue, and green. It’s these three kinds of cones that work together and allow you to see millions of colors.

The answer of the 1st question is 39. There are total 39 colours in the image. If you can see all the 39 colours, you have tetrachromatic vision. Much like bees, you possess four different kinds of cone cells in your eyes and see the majority of colours in the visible light spectrum. Only 25% of people can see all the colours in the image.

I hope you liked the post. See you all in the next post...
